

Currently serving on the executive committee of Anglo American’s Iron Ore Marketing team, Wimpie holds full accountability for logistics and Integrated Sales and Operational Planning (ISOP) for Kumba Iron Ore, a JSE-listed subsidiary of Anglo American plc. Previously, Wimpie was part of the executive team at Anglo American South Africa, overseeing strategic integration across business units including iron ore, PGMs, and diamonds. Earlier roles include leading Kumba Iron Ore’s corporate strategy function, formulating business strategy and managing the Strategy PMO for critical projects. Prior to this, Wimpie served as Project Controls Manager for Kumba’s capital portfolio and the successful $1.2 billion Kolomela greenfields expansion project. Before joining Kumba, Wimpie was Financial Manager for Projects at Xstrata Coal (now Glencore), contributing to the $0.5 billion Goedgevonden expansion. A qualified Chartered Accountant [CA(SA)], Wimpie also holds B.Com Law and LLB degrees from the University of Pretoria. After completing legal and accounting articles, Wimpie joined Deloitte Forensics as a forensic accountant and manager, where he qualified as a CA.
