Tefo is an Environmental Scientist with 20 years’ experience in the diamond industry. He has a deep understanding and experience of sustainability having started his career as an environmental learner official at Jwaneng Mine and culminating his career in Debswana as the Executive Head of Safety and Sustainable Development. He is currently the De Beers Group Head of Policy & Planning: Safety and Sustainable Development and Risk (Safety, Medicine & Wellness, Occupational Hygiene, Environment, Climate Change, Social Impact & Socio-Economic Development and Security). Over the past 18 months he has led the review of the De Beers Sustainability Framework which seeks to maximise value and impact for the countries and communities of natural diamond origin.
