Marème Mbaye is the Group Head, Client Coverage and Solutions at Ecobank Group, a role she assumed in August 2025. With over 23 years of banking experience, Marème brings strong expertise in client relationship management, strategic leadership, business development, and governance. Her career spans West, Central, and East Africa, marked by a consistent record of growth and impact. Before rejoining Ecobank, she was Vice President and spokesperson for Société Générale Sub-Saharan Africa and a member of the Executive Committee for Société Générale’s Africa, Mediterranean Basin & Overseas region. She previously served as CEO for Société Générale Central and East Africa, overseeing operations in six countries, and earlier as CEO of Société Générale Cameroun, where she led successful growth and governance initiatives. Marème’s earlier tenure at Ecobank Group includes roles as Chief of Staff to the Group CEO, Managing Director of Ecobank Rwanda, and Managing Director of Ecobank Gambia. She began her journey as Head of Large Corporates, Senegal, leading major syndications and structured transactions. She holds a Master in Financial Economics and a Bachelor in Business Administration from HEC Montréal, Canada, and is fluent in French and English.
