Maidei Matika is the Chief Investment Facilitator at the Gauteng Industrial Development Zone (Gauteng IDZ), where she leads the attraction, structuring, and conversion of strategic investments into the OR Tambo International Airport Special Economic Zone (SEZ). She has played a pivotal role in advancing mining beneficiation and downstream industrialisation, positioning the OR Tambo SEZ as a globally competitive platform for precious metals beneficiation, jewellery manufacturing, and export-oriented value chains. Maidei facilitated over R1 billion in investment into the OR Tambo SEZ Jewellery Manufacturing Park, a flagship beneficiation initiative that is fully operational. Beyond OR Tambo, she engages across Gauteng’s SEZ programme, supporting the province’s agenda where SEZs serve as catalysts for reindustrialisation, localisation, and inclusive economic growth. Nationally, Maidei contributes to SEZ stakeholder forums and analytical review work, shaping the evolution of South Africa’s SEZ framework. Prior to joining Gauteng IDZ, Maidei consulted for public and private sector organisations on strategy development, organisational design, public policy, and economic empowerment solutions. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Industrial Psychology) from the University of Namibia and an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), University of Pretoria, complemented by executive training in project management, strategic management, and corporate governance.
