Jon Stanton is Chief Executive Officer of Weir, a FTSE 100 engineering leader in mining technology with 12,000 employees across over 50 countries. Since 2016, he has led one of the most significant transformations in Weir’s 150 year history: exiting oil & gas and power; completing the US$1.3bn acquisition of ESCO, the global leader in ground engaging tools; and acquiring Micromine in April 2025 to strengthen Weir’s digital capabilities. Alongside portfolio reshaping, he has driven a transformation programme that has delivered sector leading performance and a platform for growth. Today Weir partners with miners to help them scale up and clean up, enabling smarter, more efficient and sustainable operations essential to the energy transition. Jon joined Weir in 2010 as Group Finance Director after a Partner role at EY. He is a Non Executive Director of Imperial Brands and its former Audit Committee Chair, and received an honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Strathclyde in June 2025.
