Jeremy Awori is a distinguished financial executive and the Group Chief Executive Officer of Ecobank. With a career spanning nearly three decades across four continents, he has played a pivotal role in advancing financial innovation and transformation across Africa. Recognised by African Business as one of the 100 most influential leaders in Africa in 2024, Jeremy Awori is a strong advocate for pan-African financial integration and a committed champion of gender inclusion. He is deeply focused on leveraging technology, innovation, and strategic partnerships to empower businesses and individuals across the continent. Under his leadership, Ecobank continues to drive sustainable growth, digital transformation, and inclusive economic development. Prior to joining Ecobank, Jeremy Awori served as Managing Director and CEO of Absa Bank Kenya, where he led strategic initiatives that strengthened the bank’s market position and expanded financial inclusion. Earlier in his career, he held several senior leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank, including CEO of Standard Chartered Tanzania and Regional Sales and Performance Director for the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. Jeremy Awori is a Fellow of the Aspen Global Leadership Institute and the African Leadership Initiative. He holds an MBA from McGill University and a BSc in Pharmacy from the University of Manchester.
