Japie Fullard has been the Chief Executive Officer of Glencore Ferroalloys since 2019. He started his career in 1988 in the Coal Mining Industry as an Apprentice Electrician at Duiker Mining. He qualified in 1990 and subsequently commenced his studies towards an engineering qualification.

While studying, Japie gained experience across various disciplines and occupations and obtained his Government Certificate of Competency in 1995. He subsequently served as Chief Engineer at various operations while furthering his studies in Mining Engineering. In 2001, he obtained his Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency and went on to manage various mines as Mine Manager.

Japie spent more than 17 years in the Coal Mining Industry, during which time he served on both the South African Coal Engineering Association (SACEA) and the South African Coal Managers Association (SACMA), before joining the Ferroalloys Mining Division as General Manager. In 2008, he was appointed Head of Mining.

Japie is a Board Member of the South African Minerals Council and served as Chairperson of the CEO Zero Harm Forum from 2022 to 2026.
