Senior Program Officer
Ford Foundation
Nicky is a passionate, intersectional African feminist, who has focused on advancing gender justice and eradicating violence against women and girls and gender diverse folk, for more than 25 years.
Nicky’s worldview is firmly grounded in an anti-racist and decolonial perspective, which provides the ideological framework for her work. Her engagement extends across the African continent, where she delves into the complex interplay of women’s identities and the myriad forms of violence they confront. Through her extensive experience, she has gained a deep understanding of both the profound vulnerability and remarkable resilience exhibited by women throughout the continent. She is also a very active supporter of the incorporation of healing within grantmaking and addressing trauma within the civil society space.  At the core of Nicky’s mission is the creation of inclusive and empowering spaces for women and gender diverse communities. These spaces serve as catalysts for cross-cultural learning solidarity, and the cultivation of social movements. Nicky currently serves as the Senior Program Officer of the Gender, Racial, and Ethnic Justice portfolio at the Ford Foundation’s Office of Southern Africa. In this role, she continues to be a driving force in the pursuit of a more just and equitable world.
