Daniele Spizzichino

PhD, Mine Engineer & Researcher
ISPRA Geological Survey of Italy
Daniele Spizzichino is an Environmental Engineer (University of Rome, 1999) and holds a PhD in Earth Sciences (2012). He has solid expertise in geo-resources, geodynamics, and natural and induced hazard assessment, with strong integration of advanced ICT tools (GIS, Earth observation, digital mapping, geotechnical modeling). His work focuses on the analysis, management, and sustainable use of geo-resources, including critical and strategic raw materials, and on mitigating impacts related to subsurface exploitation. Since 2000, he has been active in geotechnical engineering applied to mining-related activities, sustainable land-use planning, low-impact mitigation measures, and the design and implementation of monitoring systems (remote sensing, topographic networks, in situ and traditional geotechnical instrumentation). He has coordinated multidisciplinary research teams and complex national and international projects. He is currently Senior Researcher at ISPRA (Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), Department of the Geological Survey of Italy, where he serves as Head of the Geodynamics and Geo-resources Area, including Hazard and Impact Assessment of Natural and Induced Events. He coordinates national actions to meet European targets on geo-resources and critical raw materials. Author of more than 150 scientific publications, he is a member of several international technical associations and Adjunct Professor within the UNESCO Chair on the Prevention and Sustainable Management of Geo-hydrological Risks at the University of Florence.
